납북자이름부르기 캠페인 한·일 공동 탄원서

노무현 대통령님께 드리는 탄원서

대한민국의 번영과 국민의 행복을 위하여 얼마나 애쓰십니까? 저희는 미국에 살면서 조국 대한민국의 발전과 평화를 기원하는 사람들입니다.

금년 여름 분당 샘물교회 교인들이 아프카니스탄에 피랍되었을 때 대통령께서 그들의 석방을 위해서 애쓰시는 모습을 보고 해외에 사는 저희들은 많은 감동을 받았습니다.

그러나 남한, 일본, 싱가포르, 태국, 레바논, 말레이지아, 로마니아등에서 북한에 피랍된 사람은 83,418명에 이릅니다. 이 분들의 가족들은 하루도 잊지 못하고 돌아오기를 애가 타게 기다리고 있는데 국민의 기억 속에서는 잊혀지고 있습니다.

지난 9월 1일 정오부터 4일 오후 7시까지 피랍탈북 인권 연대와 재미 일본인 피랍일본인구명위원회 (대표 아사노)는 백악관 앞에 있는 라파엣(Lafayette) 공원에서 납북자들이 하루속히 돌아 오기를 바라면서 이름을 24시간 릴레이로 낭독하였습니다.

저희들은 납북자들이 하루 속히 그들이 사랑하는 가족의 품으로 돌아 갈 수 있도록 앞으로 있을 정상 회담에서 의제로 다루어 주시기를 청원합니다.

첨부한 자료는 이때 와싱톤 디시를 방문한 세계 여러 나라 사람들이 탄원서에 서명한 자료입니다. 또한 워싱톤 디시(DC)인근에 사는 한인들의 서명도 포함되어 있습니다.

이 문제에 깊은 관심을 가지고 피랍자 가족들에게 희망을 준 대통령으로 기억될 수 있도록 노력해 주시기를 간절히 바랍니다.

Petition to the President Roh Moo-Hyun of South Korea

From September 1 to 3, 2007 at Lafayette Park located behind the White House in Washington, D.C. U.S.A., we have called out the names of the more than 83,000 people who have been abducted by North Korean from all over the world including China, Japan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Romania, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand.

We have called out their names, one by one, to remind ourselves that the freedom of each abductee is as precious as our own, to inform the world of their plight, and to appeal for help for winning their freedom.

We have called out their names, one by one, wishing in some way, to let them know they are not forgotten, that we will be working fro their freedom as long as it takes, and that all of us, families, friends, and supporters are looking forward to their safe and prompt return home.

We have called out their names, one by one. No matter what country he or she belongs to, every single abductee is as important as anyone else. It takes a few seconds to call one name. Ye one name represents one life.

We request you to consider discussing this issue with Kim Jong-Il of North Korea at the Summit meeting in October 2007.
