워싱턴발 뉴스 – 美연방국회 샘 브라운백 상원의원은 5월 20일, 남한의 해군 함정을 무단공격한 북한정권을 매도하였다. 이 공격으로 남한 해군수병들 46명이 전사하였다. 브라운백 의원은, “북한정권은 이 비열하고 치사한 행동에 책임을 져야만 한다. 미국정부는 북한을 테러 지원국 명단에 당장 다시 올리고, 북한에 즉각적이고 다국적 경제봉쇄를 가해야 한다. 북한은 이웃 나라에도 위협이고, 동아시아에도 위협이고, 전 세계에 위협적 존재이니까, 이런 도발적 행위에는 응분의 조치를 해야 한다,”고 강력 주장하였다.
