오늘 다음과 비슷한 내용의 영문 이-메일을 각국 유엔대표부에게 발송했습니다. 이-메일 내용은, 그동안 엔지오들이 북한인권 일에 앞장 섰었지만, 이제는 유엔같은 국제기구에서 북한인권을 챙겨야 하며, 북한에는 생존권이나 인권이 전무하고, 기아, 투옥, 고문, 강제노동, 공개처형, 영아살해, 인체실험같은 끔찍한 일들이 매일 일어나고 있으니, 제발 대북인권 경고안에 찬표를 던져주십사 하는 내용입니다. 앞으로 열흘쯤 지나면 유엔총회에서 대북인권결의안의 투표가 있을 예정입니다. 지난 3년간 계속 유엔인권위의 대북인권 결의안에 불참 내지 기권한 대한민국은 이제 나라가 아닙니다. 이번 유엔총회에서도 분명히 기권할 것입니다. 자국민의 생존권과 인권을 돌보지 않는 나라가 어떻게 국가입니까? 이제 우리는 딴 나라들에게 우리 민족의 생존권과 인권을 호소하게 되었습니다. 여러분들의 적극적인 동참을 바랍니다. 이번 유엔총회 대북인권 결의안은 절대적 다수로 통과되어야 합니다. 이것이 바로 사람들 살리는 것만 아니라 나라 살리는 길입니다. 감사합니다. 남신우 올림 2005년 11월 6일 김정일의 대학살 전시회 http://nkgenocide.net 이-메일 보내는 방법: 우선 다음 편지를 새 이-메일에 카피하신 뒤, 편지 끝에 이름을 써 넣으시고, 그 밑에 적혀있는 이-메일 주소들을 수신 란에 전부 아니면 일부씩 나누어 카피하셔서 발송하시면 됩니다. 이미 이전부터 대북인권 경고안에 찬표를 던져주었던 나라들과 이번 결의안을 발의한 EU 국가들에게는 로비할 필요가 없어서 이-메일 명단에서 뺐습니다. 많이 걸려야 20분쯤 걸리는 작업입니다. November 6, 2005 Honorable Ambassadors to the United Nations: I write this e-mail to your Excellency to urge you to vote yes to the UN resolution on the North Korean human rights violations. More than 3 million people died of systematic starvation in North Korea under the tyrannical regime of Kim Jong-il. Something has to be done. Many NGOs have saved thousands of refugees hiding in China. They all came to South Korea to live in freedom and democracy. However, there are more than 300 thousand refugees hiding in China. Individuals and NGOs cannot solve this problem. The world organization like the United Nations should do something about this modern-day holocaust. It is not a problem for the Koreans only; it is a problem for the entire world. We came a long way to raise awareness of the tragedy. The U.S. Congress passed the North Korean Human Rights Act of 2004 last year. Now, the EU sponsored this resolution warning the North Korean regime about its human rights violations. The human rights record of North Korea is comparable to that of the Nazis; starvation, imprisonment, torture, forced labor, public executions, infanticide, human experiments, mass relocation… the list goes on and on. Today, more than a thousand people die of starvation, torture, and execution in North Korea. This is a fact. You have to know the truth. Please vote yes to the resolution, which I heard will be at the General Assembly sometime this week. Silence on the NK human rights violations is a crime. Thank you.
